Vettel happier with car following Bahrain practice

Sebastian Vettel reported that he was happier with his Ferrari following the opening day of running in Bahrain. In Australia two weeks ago, it was revealed that the four-time world champion was not entirely happy with his 2018 challenger, bringing up problems with the front end.

However, in Bahrain, Vettel admits that he is feeling better about his car, saying that the team has been working flat-out to improve it for him:  "Obviously in Australia we found ourselves a little bit behind and also in terms of feeling not yet happy,” he said.

"We tried some stuff today most to try and fix the front end because it hasn’t been very strong in Australia and it’s got a bit better. Let’s see where we are tomorrow. I think we can I think we can still improve for both short and long run."

Ferrari ended the second practice session in first and second, with Vettel just behind his teammate Kimi Raikkonen. Despite looking strong on his long run, the German racer admitted that he expected something more from his own personal stint.

"My long run was OK, I think it should have been a bit stronger,” he said. “But as I said we tried different things with balance with the car, we tried to get a read. It looks like we were a bit quicker than the rest but it depends on the programme."

"At this point I wouldn’t draw on any conclusions. We focus on ourselves and the set-up mostly and try to get a bit better feel which at times was good, at other times was not yet there so still some stuff to do," he concluded.
