Daniil Kvyat believes that every corner that's packed into the 4.3 mile Spa-Francorchamps circuit is special and unique in its own way. This weekend, the paddock travels to the track that first hosted a world championship race back in 1950.
It is often referred to as a favourite among drivers, with Kvyat being no exception. The Russian has a best finish of fourth at Spa, which came in 2016 when he was driving for Red Bull. Last year, a poor qualifying left him at the back of the field and he failed to make much progress in the race.
"Spa-Francorchamps is a legendary track and one I really look forward to racing at every year! It's definitely one of my favourites and I think every driver likes it a lot. It's just impossible not to! It's a great circuit with big history. The first thing that comes to mind when you think of this track is the legendary corner of Eau Rouge but I have to say that, in a way, every single corner there is special and unique.
Kvyat also spoke about the weather at the track, which can often cause upsets and major strategy benefits. Due to the track being so long, it is not unusual to find one part of the circuit pouring with rain while another remains relatively dry.
"Another interesting thing about this circuit is that it's so big that it can be raining in one part but dry at another, so it can make racing very interesting and you need to be ready for everything! It's also interesting and fun to race there because of the slipstream – it's easy to find a tow at some point during the lap and this can become very useful at times, especially during qualifying."
