Chase Carey "would like to have more German teams"

Chase Carey admits that he would like to see more German teams in Formula 1. Currently, only one German team runs in F1 - world champions Mercedes. However, Carey would like to see more manufacturers from Germany come into the sport due to the success of the country.

Speaking to German's Bild, the American declared. "We have a German champion, a German car as champion, a German fighting for the title this year and we would like to have more German teams.

Adding to his wishes, Carey also vowed that he would fight for the German Grand Prix. The race will return in 2018 where it will play out the final year in its contract: "The German Grand Prix has a great history and we want to fight for it to continue," he added.

When asked if the German teams h was referring to are the likes of BMW, Audi and Porsche, he replied:  "Of course. Our goal is that companies like that want to run teams in Formula 1, and it's why we are adjusting the technical and economic conditions."

Arguably the most famous name in Formula 1 to have come from Germany is the legendary Michael Schumacher, who won a staggering 91 Grands Prix and seven-world titles, both of which are world records. Carey revealed that a conference room in its London headquarters will be named after him: "Michael is a cult figure of the sport," he said. "He defines the ultimate in an F1 racing driver, so we will pay tribute by naming one of the conference rooms after him."

'Cos it's your roots man. Like a geographical DNA. You might wish for 'global entities' but it makes control of the individual that much simpler. Try as you may to eradicate national 'lines in the sand' we have a tribal nature and always will have..

What about those ´mericans Mr. Carey?

What about the great 60ies rivalry between Ford and Ferrari?

    Ford? Chevrolet?

And what about Japanese teams like we already had not that long ago?

    Toyota? Honda?

And of course Porsche, Audi (or Lamborghini), Alfa Romeo etc..
