Kvyat pleased with points finish after starting at the back

Daniil Kvyat was left very frustrated after qualifying in Spain on Saturday saw him finish Q1 at the bottom of the pile as the slowest car of all. He therefore faced an uphill struggle on Sunday, having to race on a track at which overtaking is difficult, but ultimately did a solid job to finish ninth and ensure a double-points result for Toro Rosso.

The Russian spoke of his satisfaction after the race, and also took the time to express his pride in his engineers, but still acknowledged that there is work to be done if the team is to prevent any further Q1 catastrophes this season: "It feels great to finish in the points today, I'm proud of myself and my engineers! We didn't give up after a difficult day yesterday and followed a great strategy to go from last to P9!

"Of course we need to analyse and find out what happened yesterday, because we can't afford qualifying sessions like this to happen anymore, but today's race was fun. I was able to overtake many cars at a circuit where normally it's not easy to do so and enjoyed every lap of the race a lot, so I'm very happy. These points are very welcome after a tough weekend! Thanks everybody!"
