Scuderia Toro Rosso driver Carlos Sainz believes that qualifying 11th for tomorrow's Chinese Grand Prix puts him in a good position to achieve a good result.
The midfield teams are very close in terms of performance and the Spaniard referred to this in his post-qualifying team statement.

"It's incredible how tight the midfield is! To see two or three drivers within a tenth means that nowadays qualifying is even more important and even the smallest detail can make the difference."
Sainz missed out on Q3 by a tenth as rookie Lance Stroll squeezed into the final part of qualifying but he was keeping his spirits high despite the disappointment.
"Unfortunately I didn't make it into Q3 this afternoon, but I missed out for so little – it was quite a decent lap so I'm not worried about it."
The race on Sunday is expected to be affected by inclement weather and this presents an excellent opportunity for the drivers to make a difference on-track and Sainz hopes to seize the opportunity with both hands.
"If it's wet, we know we have a strong chassis and I always welcome the rain, so one way or another I think we have opportunities to fight for a good result tomorrow."
