Manor's dwindling hopes evaporate after release of entry list

Whatever hopes Manor had of entering the 2017 season have now been extinguished as the FIA released the official line up for the new season yesterday.

Manor fell into administration at the start of the year, and after failing to find an investor, the team collapsed. There had been paddock murmurings of an eleventh hour rescue for the financially embattled British team.

"Reportedly, Manor gave up hope of a last minute rescue and withdrew its application for a starting place," the German news agency DPA said. "Speculation about the possible entry of Chinese investors had proved to be wrong," the report added.

Also on the list was a 'TBC' beside Toro Rosso in regards to their engine. The team will run with Renault power for the 2017 season, however it is not clear if they will use that name or re-brand them, like sister team Red Bull have done with Tag Heuer.
