Daniil Kyvat thinks he is currently out performing his car.
The Toro Rosso faced a hard time after rejoining the Italian team in May after being dropped by Red Bull, but has since refound his form since the summer break, only for Toro Rosso's performance to fall away as their 2015-spec engines begin to fall behind.
"I think I am outperforming the car at the moment, to be honest, so if this is not enough then I don't know what is," Kvyat said, when Autosport asked if he had done all he could to earn a seat on the 2017 grid. "I'm feeling a lot more comfortable than a couple of months ago, that's for sure."
"I have to create my own comfort and it feels quite good. The start of every weekend is more enjoyable," added the Russian. "Sometimes we know before coming to the race that it won't be easy but we keep fighting and I enjoy doing my work regardless of my position. Every day is a joy."
Speaking of how his situation now compares to that of a few months ago, the 22-year old is a lot more positive.
"A few months ago, of course I had a few doubts but now everything is clear to me," he said. "I love what I do and I want to do this as long as I can."
