Max Verstappen celebrated his nineteenth birthday yesterday but despite celebrations, reports claimed that the Dutchman collapsed after emerging from his car following first practice.
Pirelli stated that track temperatures were the highest they had ever seen, and the air temperature was blistering. The drivers lose a lot of body fluids during long runs in practice and indeed the race.
It is suggested that Verstappen got out of his car too rapidly and fainted. However, Red Bull have since denied these claims.
“I don’t think I’ve ever seen track temperatures so high,” Verstappen’s team mate Daniel Ricciardo said.
But a Red Bull spokesman told Speed Week: “Max did not faint or collapse.
“He got out of the car and felt dizzy for a moment, but after a few seconds the feeling was gone and there were no problems.”
