Sergio Perez has said that he hopes to announce his 2017 plans by the upcoming Malaysia Grand Prix.
Perez had intended to confirm his future by this weekend but a delay had put back any potential announcement.
"Well, I tried. I was hoping to be in a position to announce my plans for this week," Perez said.
"Obviously we've got some delays, but I really hope before the next race we can definitely announce where I'll be racing."
Despite being contracted to Force India for 2017, Perez has an escape clause in his contract, leaving his future in the hands of his wealthy Mexican backers. Williams have been courting the former McLaren driver, however, he hinted that he could be remaining at Force India for at least another year by telling the press in Singapore that he is happy where he is.
"I always said that I'd be very happy if I can stay and everything is fine for me to stay where I am," he admitted.
