Jos Verstappen to skip European Grand Prix

Jos Verstappen will not be present at the European Grand Prix in Azerbaijan this weekend, marking the first time in his son Max's Formula One career when he has not attended a race.

The move comes after reports that Verstappen Sr. would take a step back from his son's career following his promotion to Red Bull Racing last month.

"Max is fine," Jos is quoted as saying. "Everything goes smoothly and the team is very happy with him. It's the next step in his development."

"It's good for him to occasionally go about his work without his father there," he added.

Max has also apparently moved out of his father's Monaco home recently.
