Antonio Felix da Costa says that he must adopt a "balls-out" approach in order to win this year's Formula E championship.

With three races left to run this season, Da Costa sits fourth place in the standings, 20 points off points championship leader Jean-Eric Vergne.

The Portuguese driver held the lead in the championship early on in the season, winning the opening round of the year - which remains his only victory so far, while he grabbed podium finishes at Mexico and Sanya.

"I actually have to go more aggressive than what I've been approaching races already," da Costa said. "I went a little bit more aggressive with my mindset in Berlin. I just cannot aim for points anymore, we really need to have some strong results.

"It is not going to be easy to gain 20 points on JEV, you don't gain 20 points off JEV easily. So yeah, we are going to have to go balls-out, go aggressive, because to win it is going to have to be something special."

Da Costa added that he can't afford to be conservative in the final races, which will be the biggest change to his weekend approach.

"I completely still believe we can win it, but the only way to do it now is not to be conservative, so we need to use that to our advantage now.

"[Vergne, di Grassi and Lotterer] are the ones who need to be careful so we'll use that and see how it goes."
