Nelson Piquet Jr. will return to the Red Bull Global Rallycross championship in Washington DC this weekend.
Formula E and WEC commitments have kept the former Formula One driver from competing in Red Bull GRC this year, but will return for the race at the RFK Stadium, replacing Jeff Ward at SH Racing.
"I’ve missed competing in Red Bull GRC with SH Rallycross/DRR," said Piquet Jr. "I had such a great couple of seasons with the team and I love rallycross. Sulli and I are friends and have kept in touch. I’m so excited to have the opportunity to race again with the team that helped me get my first GRC victory."
The first Formula E champion raced full time in the series in 2014 and 2015 for SH Racing, winning in DC last season.
