Pierre Gasly: "Grid girl ban a shame"

Pierre Gasly has added yet another voice to concerns about F1's 'grid girls' ban. France's Auto Hebdo jokingly asked the Toro Rosso driver if there is a connection between the 2018 ban and the fact that Gasly is making his full-time F1 debut this year.

"It's not my fault!" he laughed. "Personally, I find it a shame because grid girls were part of the DNA and the glamorous side of formula one." (GMM)

I personally find it hard to beleive that so many men feel butthurt about this.
If you want to have sex with a girl just go out, make your move, be nice to her and earn it (or not; depends on the girl)

Unbeleivable!

Also, what's this with drivers wanting grid girls as well? It shouldn't be too hard for them to find a woman to be with. They are all young, fit and rich.

Don't get me wrong, I like women that are pretty and look good but this vocal rebelion is all a bit too much.

    • Bottom line, let women's make there own choices. Don't make the choices for them because of the like's of a few frustrated feminist morons, who don't have the looks to get in the picture.

    • I cant see why its become such a big debate. Did anyone even notice them or say "oh thank god for the grid girls! This show would be far worse without them!"? During my entire horny teenhood I havent noticed them. Surely average Joe doesnt notice or mind them being gone?

    • @calle Nobody cared, this is about politics and certain people being extremely butthurt because this feels like a victory of the 'feminists.' While I would agree that there are plenty of silly causes that involve feminists, I actually agree with this decision. Yes, @Dutchreath women can make their own choices, but for a very progressive sport it makes no sense to preserve the image of eye-candy women out there. Sure they do it willingly, but so do prostitutes, escorts, and porn actresses. In short, F1 loses nothing by this changes, and avoids potential controversy in the future.

    • @ajpennypacker, you can't deny that a lot of young woman's who love to do what they are doing, lose there jobs because of the opinion of a few feminist. Why is this world become so hypocrite? Now they going to explore young underage boy's to the world, all in the name of decency. Can you please tell me the difference? It's going to be a battle between parents witch young lad going to stand in front of witch driver. Do not tell me how Americans deal with their children to put them in the spotlight. Liberty only makes good use of the opportunity to mould the F1 even more to the American model.

    • @DutchTreath Formula 1 is a global brand. Largely prestigious and well-known brands. F1 does not want to tarnish their brand with what could potentially become a controversy. Can other sports get away with eye-candy women? Sure, but F1 is very unique in the kind of brands it attracts. At this point in time, it's very easy to do without the grid girls because it costs NOTHING to the actual show (given that the majority watch on TV where the girls are rarely featured. You're upset because it feels like caving to feminists. Just because the girls are willing to do it doesn't mean that they should. We could also have wet t-shirt contests, and girls wrestling in their underwear in a Jell-O pool, and there would be girls delighted to do it for money. Should we do it? I think you get the point... Regarding you comment on hypocrisy of the world... you're kidding right? They are going to have children there, but not as eye candy, not dressed provocatively. I'm sure Liberty will use the opportunity to bring children who will be delighted to be there and they'll exploit it to create some memorable moments. Nothing wrong with that.

    • @ ajpennypacker, all I'm saying is that they rob these girls from a good job because of the wrong reasons. Dressed provocatively you say. That's the tone of some people who like to put these girls in a small window. There is so much more what these girls (women's) do on a race weekend than only standing in front of the car and holding the numbers. They are hostesses from the F1 one and promoters. Ok, replace these women's on the grid whit children, but don't take there hole jobs just because you think it sound right.

    • @DutchTreath I think you will continue to see lots of women on the grid and paddock, just not as grid girls. In my opinion this change is largely symbolic and it's more about Liberty playing CYA than standing for women. But once again, I think it's not a big deal. I am not worried about all these women losing one gig, on one weekend a year.
