Sergio Perez has donated £125,00 to those affected by the devastating earthquake in Mexico. The 7.1 magnitude quake has left the country of Mexico in shock, as at least 223 people have been killed.
It is the country's most powerful earthquake in three decades and has brought buildings in Mexico City to ruins. Perez, who is currently the only Mexican driver on the Formula 1 grid, donated a large sum in order to help those in need in his home country.
The Mexican Grand Prix will take place next month, hosting the eighteenth round of the 2017 World Championship. Speaking on Twitter, the 27-year-old declared that he is "deeply concerned" about the situation his compatriots find themselves in, and believes that we should all now be "united".
For each $1 that @FundChecoPerez receives @Fund_CarlosSlim will donate $5. I donate 3M pesos to the cause. Please help! #DonateForMexico pic.twitter.com/nDfEapV6Rv
