Grosjean calls for Haas to investigate race defecit

Romain Grosjean has called for Haas to look into why the team couldn't match its promising qualifying pace in the race at the British Grand Prix. The Frenchman qualified in tenth place, once again showing promising single lap pace from the team that's only in its second year of the sport.

However, in the race, Grosjean only moved backwards, falling behind teammate Kevin Magnussen, Felipe Massa and driver of the day Daniel Ricciardo. He ended the day thirteenth and out of the points, and has called on his team to get to the bottom of the problem.

"We didn't have much pace with either tyre compound," said Grosjean. "I got stuck in traffic initially, which killed the Super Soft. I pitted for the Softs, and again, traffic all the way. We tried a gamble at the end putting new Super Softs on, hoping that something would happen at the front, but nothing did. We just need to understand why our race pace wasn't as good as it was in qualifying and go from there."

After a fantastic result at the Austrian Grand Prix, Haas came away from the race empty handed, with Magnussen also failing to get into the points. Magnussen also said that the car didn't have the pace to move forward.

"It was always going to be difficult when you start on the reverse strategy on the harder tyre. That first stint kind of kept me out of the points. The pace was good in the car, I just had to do a long stint on the tyres and wait for the guys in front to pit and then put in a lot of good lap times. I came back a bit at the end, but it wasn't enough; whenever you're fighting outside of the points, it's never that interesting."

Grosjean probably has a good point, but I am so tired of hearing him whining about the car, the track, other drivers, etc. He used to be such a mellow easy-going guy that everyone liked. Now he is unbearable and has a reputation on the paddock for being that way. Just read Toto Wolf's comment abo... [Read more]

I agree. It has gotten really old. That is the main reason I doubt he'll make to a top team. He's become quite the diva, and while talented, he isn't anything special, so he won't make it on skills alone.
