Verstappen "trying to stay positive" after tough run of races

Max Verstappen is attempting to stay positive despite a string of non-finishes. In the last seven races, Verstappen has finished just twice. The last time the Dutchman saw the chequered flag was at Monaco, a race where he was mightily disgruntled afterwards.

The 19-year-old continues to be linked to Ferrari despite Red Bull stating it has a tight hold of the young star: "I no longer think about the world championship, but having good individual races," Verstappen said. "I'm trying to stay positive and get points in the next races, but at the moment I don't really know what to think."

"I don't care so much about the results of my teammate," he told Kurier newspaper. "Honestly, I feel less and less pressure from race to race. My confidence increases with every Grand Prix."

Some think Verstappen's confidence has been boosted by the obvious interest from Ferrari, even if Sergio Marchionne in Austria denied contact has been made with Red Bull: "The interest from Ferrari is unquestionable," former F1 driver Marc Surer told German broadcaster Sky. "He (Verstappen) still has a contract -- but we all know what they are worth."
