Sebastian Vettel says that he is not concentrating on a Ferrari contract amid the intense title battle with Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton. Vettel signed a three-year deal with the Prancing Horses in 2015, which is set to conclude at the end of this season.
Vettel's teammate Kimi Raikkonen is also out of contract for next season, with many suggesting a younger driver from a lesser team could take his spot. However, in Vettel's case, many expect him to stay on and sign a new multi-year deal with Ferrari.
"Normally, contracts begin on 1 January and end on 31 December," the four-time world champion said. "So probably the final date for a decision is 31 December. I know I haven't answered your question, but it's a very intense phase of the season with a lot of races in a short period. Perhaps at the end of the summer, there will be more time," Vettel added.
In his two-and-a-bit seasons at Ferrari, the German has claimed six victories, three of which have come this year in Australia, Bahrain and Monaco. He insists he is happy at the team despite a turbulent first two years: "We are working together very well, and slowly all the puzzle pieces are in the right place. I hope this is only the beginning and there is much more to come."
