Raikkonen has "no issues" in helping Vettel's championship campaign

Kimi Raikkonen has revealed that he doesn’t have any issues with aiding his teammate Sebastian Vette, in his championship challenge providing that his own hopes for a second championship title are mathematically impossible.

"I think we have very clear rules in the team what we're allowed, what we're not allowed and what the team wants us to do, and it goes by those rules," said Räikkönen. "I don't know if I have any interest to tell [the media] what we talk inside the team. [Team Principal] Maurizio [Arrivabene] has said something, nothing has changed…that's how it's always been at least in the teams I've been. When I don't have a chance mathematically anymore to fight for the championship for sure I will help him [Vettel].”

As it stands in the Drivers’ Championship, Vettel has a 12 point over his nearest rival in Lewis Hamilton after the first seven races of the 2017 season while Raikkonen sits in fourth place, 68 points behind his teammate.

In the Constructors’ Championship, Ferrari lies in second place, dropping 8 points behind Mercedes after a difficult Canadian Grand Prix saw the reigning champions secure a 1-2 finish while the Ferrari pair were outside of the podium positions.

"Obviously the first thing is to try and make sure that we can be on the top with Ferrari, that's the most important thing, if Seb can win, fine, if I don't have any chance then that's how it goes. The first thing is to work for Ferrari and put them in a best possible position then we see,” said Raikkonen.
