No Le Mans clash under Chase Carey's watch

Formula 1 and Le Mans are set to avoid future calendar clashes as Chase Carey looks to end any chance of both events being held on the same weekend. In 2016, The European Grand Prix and Le Mans were on the same weekend, under the ruling of former F1 CEO Bernie Ecclestone.

After Liberty Media's acquisition of the sport in January, they have outlined a number of changes they want to make, including avoiding a clash in the calendar's of F1 and other major racing series such as Formula E, the World Endurance Championship and MotoGP.

"We are demonstrating the new relationship between the (Le Mans organiser) ACO (Automobile Club de l'Ouest) and Formula 1," said ACO chief Pierre Fillon. "With Chase Carey at the top of F1, the time has come to work together on a motor sport calendar that allows fans to enjoy both Formula 1 and the races of the world endurance championship."

In 2015, Renault driver Nico Hulkenberg travelled to Le Mans to compete in the race for the first time. Driving for Porsche, the German, along with Earl Bamber and Nick Tandy won the race which saw a lot of praise coming his way from fellow drivers.

"At the moment, I don't think I am missing participating in Le Mans," he told Firstpost. "I am focused on the Renault project and I would like to give this my best shot in the next few years. For the future, who knows?"
