Fernando Alonso's return to Formula 1 couldn't have got off to a worse start, as the Spaniard pulled trackside during the first practice session in Montreal. Alonso skipped the Monaco Grand Prix last time out to race in the Indy 500, where he also encountered some engine trouble.
Alonso's year has been dominated by the troublesome Honda power unit in the back of his car. On his return to the paddock, he spoke to Sky Sports briefly and claimed he is now used to these problems happening.
"We are used to it. It's difficult to switch back from Indy to here, [on the] first laps [I was] trying to get the feel of the car again. FP1 is done, FP2 is hopefully trouble free and we get some practice. We will deliver; when qualifying and the race arrives we will be there. It's not a problem, we have good experience here, we know the track, it plays in our favour."
