Four-time Formula 1 world champion Alain Prost believes that Nico Hulkenberg is exactly right for the French team. Hulkenberg joined Renault at the start of 2017 after three consecutive years at Force India. So far, the German has a best finish of P6 with the team, which came in Spain.

Prost, who raced for Renault from 1981 to 1983, now holds the position of an advisor to the team. He thinks Hulkenberg has what the Enstone based team needs to return to the front of the grid

"Nico is very important in this, as he is exactly what we needed at Renault," the F1 legend told SID news agency. charismatic and a strong character who can help make the team better and better. We all want to improve quickly, but we also have to be careful. I know Formula 1 very well and you cannot set unrealistic goals.

Hulkenberg joined Renault in the hope of competing at the front of the grid in a number of years, as the team that won the 2005 and 2006 driver and constructor championships are expected to return to the top in the next three or four years.

"This is a very important phase for me and my career," Hulkenberg said. "I believe in this project and I want to work with them to achieve victories and championships. I think this is realistic, even if there are no guarantees in Formula 1. But the group has all the prerequisites and the financial possibilities."
