Lance Stroll's race was cut short as on lap one of the race, the Canadian made contact with Sergio Perez which left him in the gravel with damage done to the car.
The 18-year-old also retired from his debut race two weeks ago in Australia with a brake disc failure, and this time was left with a long walk to his garage. The stewards investigated the incident but decided that no driver was at major fault for the crash.

"I was hit from the rear at Turn 10 and that was the end of my race. I was in front, knew the corner was mine and had to turn in eventually. It was just unfortunate as that was my race over. I got hit and then the car was broken, most likely with a puncture and damaged suspension."
Despite not running the race he wanted, Stroll says he will take some positives from the weekend, such as his pace in qualifying which saw him progress into Q3.
"While today was difficult, we have some positives to take out of this weekend, as the qualifying was good even if the race was not what we wanted. But it is still early days and there are a lot more opportunities. I am now looking forward to Bahrain next weekend and that is what I am concentrating on now."
