Ferrari are a bit too quick - Bottas

Valtteri Bottas' first weekend with the Brackley-based squad was a solid one for the Finn as he completed the podium and even looked like be would be able to catch Hamilton at one point.

The new Mercedes driver spent a number of laps catching teammate Lewis Hamilton, but settled in behind to take a podium on his debut for his new team.

"Obviously, the first race with the team and thanks everyone. This team has been so welcoming, we've worked really hard for this first race to be ready. Everything went nice and smoothly but just the Red guys they are a bit too quick and that means we need to work harder and we are definitely ready for that, I'm ready for that. This is a start, starting with a podium and we can improve it from here so I look forward for the next three races."

  • I've been watching Valtteri for several years now. He now has the car to do be a champion! It's still going to be a lot of work, but he's a focused, cool-headed team player. I believe in this flying Finn!
