Sebastian Vettel confident of more titles

Sebastian Vettel is confident that he can win world championships for Ferrari despite having a tough time since joining in 2015.

Although the German won three races in 2015, Vettel has remained far off the pace of the Mercedes and hasn't come close to fighting for a world championship.

"I guess it's a question of time," he said when asked if he could be a champion again.

"Obviously it was a big step when I decided to change, at the time when I did. It was clear that it would take some time, [but] we had a great season [in 2015], we got closer and closer to Mercedes.

"The hopes and expectations for 2016 were high."

Ferrari were confident heading into 2016, however they not only slipped further behind Mercedes, but allowed Red Bull to pass them in the standings and come out best of the rest.

Vettel also said that his main target for 2017 is to challenge for the championship.

"I think it's normal when you finish second in the Constructors' you aim to finish first,' Vettel said. "We haven't achieved what we set out to achieve [in 2016] but nevertheless our main target [in 2017] is to win the championship, to fight for the championship.

"I think there is a lot of change that I see, a lot of change that is going on inside the team that will make us stronger, so I'm pretty confident about that."

  • Sure Seb is confident, no doubting that man, he is a class act. The same can't be said of Ferrari. Unless something changes drastically at Ferrari none of this confidence matters.
