Valtteri Bottas has dropped the strongest hint yet that he has a deal in place for 2017, despite there being no announcement from Williams or any other team.
The Finn is expected to drive for Williams alongside Lance Stroll next year, in what is thought to be an open secret within the Formula One paddock
Spain's El Mundo Deportivo newspaper claims that Bottas has pushed for his new deal to include a clause allowing him to leave if Mercedes, Red Bull or Ferrari want to sign him.
When asked about his future at Sepang, Bottas told Finnish television MTV: "Maybe I know what I'm doing, maybe I don't.
"In any case, the time is getting closer."
When asked if whether he knew what was happening net year or not, he said: "I don't want to say. I hope that soon, everything will be 100 per cent ready."
He also revealed that Williams are testing a seatbelt from a different manufacturer after his incident in Singapore last month,
"We are testing it in practice," he said. "That's all I can say. Then we will decide what to do in the future."
