Kimi Raikkonen not bothered by fight for third

Kimi Raikkonen has admitted that the prospect of finishing third this season does not interest him.

The 2007 world champion is currently locked in a battle with team mate Sebastian Vettel and Malaysia Grand Prix winner Daniel Ricciardo for third in the championship behind the dominant Mercedes duo of Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton.

But despite the Silver Arrows' unassailable lead, the Ferrari driver insists he's only interested in winning.

"Not really, as we're here to try to win," he said when asked about whether he will be happy finishing third. "Anything less than winning is obviously not why we are here. All the guys in Ferrari work hard to try to be there. Second is better than third, but it's not an awful lot in the end."

"It's been a more solid year, things are running more smoothly, but we want to be back at the front and fight consistently to put ourselves in a place to have a good chance of winning," he added.
