Mercedes boss Toto Woff has said Mercedes will leave "no stone unturned" as it looks to resolve the issue which caused Lewis Hamilton's engine to expire during the Malaysia Grand Prix.
Hamilton's engine failed on lap 41 of the race, robbing him of an almost-certain victory and a chance to reclaim the championship lead.
Now Wolff has said the team, and Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains will do all they can to resolve the issue. However, he stopped short of agreeing to letting Hamilton sit out of full sessions to prolong engine life, something the three-time champion had suggested after the incident.
"We will leave no stone unturned to check the engines for the next races," said Wolff. "We are forensic. Whatever needs to be done will be done."
The Austrian revealed that the team had no prior warning that the failure would happen, and the situation has left the team baffled.
"There is no explanation," he said. "It's a freaky situation that has no rational explanation."
