Fernando Alonso thinks the best is yet to come for McLaren

Fernando Alonso believes that McLaren's best races of the season could happen at four of the remaining seven rounds of the 2016 season.

The double world champion has pinpointed the next round in Singapore, October's Japanese and United States Grands Prix, and the season finale in Abu Dhabi as McLaren's strongest tracks this season.

"Not only Singapore, I think Suzuka, Austin, and especially Abu Dhabi, I think will be very good," the Spaniard told ESPN. "Even last year we expected a lot in Singapore and we were OK but we were not as good as Austin and especially Abu Dhabi. For whatever reason Abu Dhabi was really strong for us last year so I think it can be the same next year."

He also stated that his aim for those races is to be the third fastest team, behind Mercedes and Red Bull, and he thinks the latest improvements to the team's Honda engine will help.

"Let's try to be just behind Red Bull," he said. "The latest spec on the engine has some more power and some more deployment, so that helps us a lot on the straights. So if you have two or three tenths quicker on the straights you have two or three tenths less time at full throttle, so less consumption."
