Toro Rosso technical director James Key believes that Max Verstappen's move to Red Bull has benefited Carlos Sainz.
Key said that Sainz is a more confident and relaxed driver since the Dutchman's departure, and is now fully able to show what he is capable of.

"He has come on really well this year," Key told Autosport. "He is a really good guy to work with anyway, he always has been."

Interesting article; It's actually bad news for Carlos. Performance seems to be dropping by STR. So if Kyvat and Sainz get closer does that mean that Kyvat improved or did Carlos lost performance.
RB is improving, STR seems to fall behind ever since the move from kyvat. RB driver lineup is working, STR's lineup falling short based on current results.

Should be noted that everyone else on the grid has come with a pretty constant flow of upgrades to both engine and chassis. TR can only really upgrade the latter, so its just natural for them to fall back, and I honestly expect them to fall even further back. In any case, I think Sainz' calm is more likely due to him outpacing Kvyat rather than Max leaving.
