Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton expects Red Bull Racing to offer the biggest challenge to Mercedes for the rest of the season.
At the beginning of this year Ferrari was still the closest challenger to the reigning world champion, but the Scuderia has fallen behind in the development race.
"Red Bull is definitely our closest competitor," Hamilton told to F1i. "Daniel is performing really well and so is Max, and it’s not just because of them it’s because they’ve got a great team."
"They’ve got a very, very strong team. I think Red Bull have definitely picked up with their engine performance but also they’ve got great downforce," he added. "I don’t know why they’ve closed up a little bit more [in Germany] than others but they’re definitely looking incredibly strong."
"Ferrari looked strong at one point during the weekend and then they seemed to fade off more so in the race."
