BREAKING NEWS: Button and Alonso will incur Grid Penalties for Mexico

F1today has learnt that both drivers Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button will have numerous changes, which will mean they will start at the back of the grid for Mexico.

Alonso will have a new Combustion Engine and Gearbox while Button will have the New Honda Power Unit for the first time since it debuted in Alonso's car for Russain Practice.

Commonly known as 'Phase Four' of the Honda 2015 Power Unit, is meant to be worth a tenth per a lap. Button will use this engine for Friday Practice, and he will incur a further change for the race.

  • Probably precautions to increase their shots at surviving this GP. Seeing as their weak links are a smaller turbo, a weak electric engine and a problem with cooling, the thin air and high ambient temperature will definitely not be conducive for them. And this is a high speed track, so I dont think they'll be capable of scoring points. I can imagine a switch to their Monza package in terms of aero for this race.

    • I'll add that they found 0,1 seconds using only 2 tokens on overall upgrades which were not focusing on performance, as they're instead focusing on getting the engine ready for future upgrades. 0,1 isnt much of a win, but if it was just a side effect its still a neat bonus.
