Exclusive: Williams to announce Petrobras sponsorship next week

The Williams F1 Team have reportedly signed two sponsorship deals with two Brazilian firms; Petrobras and Banco do Brasil.

According to a highly creditable Brazilian source, the multinational energy company, Petrobras have reportedly signed the deal due to the British-based squad signing ex-Ferrari driver Felipe Massa, with the organisation wishing to reaffirm a major involvement in Formula 1.

The news comes after rumours have been circulating that Martini would become the teams' title sponsor. It is speculated that should both of these deals occur, the FW36 would be branded in a white Martini livery with the Petrobras logos situated near the cockpit.

An announcement is expected to take place at the Petrobras headquarters in Rio on February 18th.

The same source also stated that Banco do Brasil, of Felipe Nasr who is widely tipped become the teams' Third driver, have agreed a partnership with the team and their logo would feature in a minor way on the race drivers' overalls and on the car also.

István Kalmár has designed an interpretation of what believes the FW36 would look like, please see the attached photo.

The partnerships would appear to be superb timing on both parts, with the Williams team showing very promising and consistent pace at the first Jerez test.

F1Today.net did contact Williams in order to try and seek confirmation regarding the news, however their spokesperson declined to comment.
