Will Power cleared to race in season finale after Watkins Glen smash

Will Power has been cleared to race at the IndyCar season finale at Sonoma next weekend after his heavy crash at Watkins Glen.

The 2014 series champion left the track after a collision with Charlie Kimball, making heavy contact a barrier.

The Australian was initially ruled out of driving after displaying "concussion-like symptoms" but after medical tests carried out by IndyCar, he has now been cleared to drive in what will be a title showdown with team mate Simon Pagenaud.

"I'm fine," Power told RACER. "I got out of the car and they thought I looked wobbly, and they obviously need to be cautious with that kind of thing. I think most drivers, when you get out of the car on a high-G track like that, feel that way."

"So, I had to go and do those tests, and you're definitely better being safe than sorry," he added. "It's just IndyCar doing what they're supposed to do."
