Christian Horner believes that is highly unlikely Red Bull will be able to improve on their current standings of third in the championship. However, Horner is optimistic that from Spa to Abu Dhabi, the team can outscore Ferrari who is sitting second behind Mercedes in the constructor championship.
Red Bull were runner ups last year to Mercedes, but the team have been unable to do the same this season and sit 134 points off rivals Ferrari who they beat last year. This has been due Red Bulls poor reliability and subsequent DNF’s paired with the rejuvenating Italian outlet of Ferrari. However, it has not dampened Horner’s spirits for the rest of the season.

"From a championship point of view, the gap to us and Mercedes and Ferrari is too big to haul back, but I would least like to outscore Ferrari in the second half of the year,” said Horner. "If we can get into a situation to challenge for podiums, and the higher places on the podium, at a couple of races between now and the end of the year that is a realistic and aggressive target for us."
"It was really Barcelona when we started to see good progress and ever since we’ve managed to get more and more performance to the car. We’ve made good progress but we’re hoping for a much more competitive second half of the season."
