Max Verstappen's father, Jos, states that his son is happy at Red Bull and his management is not searching for a way out of his contract. Verstappen has had a tough 2017 season to date, retiring from half of the opening eight races, whole collecting just one podium in China.
With seats available next season at Mercedes and Ferrari, it was suggested that Verstappen is looking for a way out of Red Bul and into a race-winning seat. However, Verstappen Senior says that this is not the case: "Don't make your own stories. We are happy at Red Bull."
2017 was predicted to be the year that Red Bull stepped up to the challenge of Mercedes and produce a championship-winning car. With aerodynamic expert Adrian Newey spearheading the programme, many were surprised to see the Milton Keynes based team off the pace at the start of the season.
Last time out in Azerbaijan, the energy drink team picked up its first victory and have seemingly closed the gap slightly to the frontrunners. Red Bull official Dr Helmut Marko told Kronen Zeitung newspaper that he is proud of the team's recovery after a difficult start to the season.
"As far as the chassis is concerned, we are probably the strongest team," he said. "But we still have to work on reliability and also the engine. We have had six failures this season, and I'm especially sorry for Max Verstappen," Marko added.
