Auer not confirming F1 test with Force India

Lucas Auer is not yet officially confirming that he is set to test for Force India in August, following the Hungarian Grand Prix. One of the rare in-season tests occurs at the Hungaroring, and earlier this week, we reported that the Austrian is set to make his F1 test debut.

Auer currently races in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) and as of now sits second in the standings, one point behind Rene Rast.  His car also runs with the BWT sponsor that Force India has and is the nephew of former Grand Prix driver Gerhard Berger

Berger, who is the DTM boss, is confident that the deal will be done: "F3 and DTM are the series that have produced the most formula one drivers recently," he told the Austrian news agency APA. "I do not want to rule out Lucas getting a chance in this direction."

But a spokesman for Auer is not ready to confirm the Force India test news: "There is a possibility, there are talks, but nothing yet. But we hope so," he said.
