Max Verstappen thinks that Red Bull has made a massive step forward in Barcelona despite remaining noticeably behind both Mercedes' and Ferrari's. Verstappen's fastest time lines up P5 on tomorrow's grid.
Red Bull introduced an upgrade to the car this weekend (as did all teams) and it was rumoured to shave off around 1.3 seconds and allow the energy drinks outfit to fight the frontrunners. Despite it appearing to not be that much, Verstappen remained satisfied after the session.
"The car was working really well, I think [throughout] the whole weekend we were finding a bit the balance with the new package," said Verstappen. "I think we made the right changes for qualifying, it was all working really well, the car [had the] best balance I've had all season so far.
"To be only six-tenths off [pole] is a massive improvement and big congratulations to the team for giving me such a good car. In the last qualifying [the gap] was 1.5s and the people at the factory can be very happy with this, and now we need to keep pushing to close the gap even more."
Verstappen returns to the arena where he took his maiden win in 2016 and while it will be tough t repeat that feat in tomorrow's Grand Prix, be sure to see the young Dutchman attempting to mix it up with the cars in front tomorrow.

It looks pretty much like they've managed to catch the top teams, but I dont think thats enough if they want to legit challenge the other two.
