Red Bull are expecting a tough rest of weekend in Russia after a rather unimpressive Friday. The team were once again heavily behind leaders Mercedes and Ferrari after the second practice session.
Red Bull hoped to this year challenge for both titles but seem to have fallen further behind, with Max Vertsappen's best lap time 1.5 seconds away from pacesetter Sebastian Vettel.
Ricciardo was even further behind that time, and says that all their work is looking towards their future races, as they don't expect any spectacular results on Sunday.
"We know that this is what we've got this weekend," said Ricciardo. "We're trying to do what we can with the current car and package, but we're not expecting too much. We'll get the job done and hopefully fight for a bit more in a few weeks."
Verstappen admitted that he will attempt to do his best on Sunday but says that the track just doesn't suit the team. The Dutchman failed to set a complete long run as he broke down with a suspected fuel problem.
"This track is just not good for us, because of the long straights, so we'll just try to make the best of it," he said. "It was a shame, again not to get a long run in practice, but that's how it is. Luckily Daniel did a long run, so we can look into the data for that for the race on Sunday."
