Wolff and Lauda sign three year deals

Mercedes boss Toto Wolff and non-executive chairman Niki Lauda have both signed three year deals which will hold them to the team until at least 2020.

Their term of contract mirror's Mercedes', who are only under contract to participate in the sport until 2020, however they are expected to open negotiations with Liberty Media this year over a new deal.

Both men retain their shares in the team, with Wolff's at 30% and Lauda's at 10%. They are recently credited for overseeing the intense rivalry between Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg.

Wolff joined Mercedes in 2013, while Lauda took up his position in late 2012. Dieter Zetsche, the chairman and chief executive officer of Mercedes' parent company Daimler, said: "In 2013, we restructured the management of the team with the clear goal of improving our performance.

"Since then, however, the results have exceeded our expectations. A key factor in this success has been the combination of Toto's entrepreneurial skills and Niki's experience. Their renewed commitment gives our programme important continuity for the next four years."
