The move comes after Romain Grosjean crashed on his installation lap and the race was delayed by 10 minutes to allow the track to drain.

The majority of drivers were in favour of a standing start, with Mercedes chairman Niki Lauda adding that a standing start would be safer as drivers would be entering the first turn much slower.
Max Verstappen and Christian Horner of Red Bull, however, were in favour of a safety car start, with the young Dutchman's car straddling a painted chequered flag on the grid which could cause him problems getting away on a standing start.
