Red Bull shuts down for summer

Red Bull Racing have closed their doors this afternoon for the mandatory summer shutdown that all teams must adhere to.

During the summer break, all teams must down tools for at least two weeks meaning cars cannot be serviced, and new parts can't be tested or manufactured. Marketing and communications teams, as well as showcar teams that some teams run are exempt.

In a tongue-in-cheek feature on their website, Red Bull Racing interviewed Guido Pantone, a man charged with painting and maintaining the factory while it is out of action for the race team.

"For sure we’re expecting conditions to be wet and dry. The general consensus seems to be starting on the Primer – but if our race paste doesn’t look strong, don’t discount the possibility of us taking an early tea-stop and going for the undercoat," he joked. "For sure. In this team we’ve got the white spirit and can deliver a striking finish. We’re targeting victory, which should really put a gloss on the campaign. Yeah, if we pull it off I’m expecting a lot of emulsion."
