Toto Wolff plays down significance of Rosberg's FP2 stoppage

Mercedes motorsport boss Toto Wolff has played down the significance of Nico Rosberg's apparent failure in free practice two for the European Grand Prix, calling the incident "not dramatic".

Rosberg's Mercedes came to a halt with 22 minutes of the session remaining after he radioed the team complaining of a problem with the engine.

Speaking of the incident, Wolff said that while the team had yet to diagnose the issue, the engine was only to be used in practice and it would have no real bearing on Rosberg or the team's weekend.

"We don’t know (what the problem is) yet," he said. "We have to look at it, what exactly it is so I can’t really give you a comment on that at the moment but it’s a Friday engine so whatever the outcome is, it’s not dramatic."
