The first free practice for the Japanese Grand Prix has seen very little action because of the rainy conditions. Only twelve drivers set a lap time, with Carlos Sainz ending on top with a 1:49.434. Daniil Kvyat and Nico Rosberg round up the top three. Kimi Raikkonen, Max Verstappen and Valtteri Bottas all went wide in turn 13, but were able to continue their way. No major incidents in this session.
