Mercedes has showed an impressive pace in the first free practice for the Italian Grand Prix. Lewis Hamilton set the best time with a 1:24.670, four tenths faster than team mate Nico Rosberg. The gap to the best of the rest was huge, with Sebastian Vettel and Nico Hülkenberg on P3 and P4 with a deficit of almost two seconds towards Hamilton. The session was shortly red flagged after a spin of Carlos Sainz in Parabolica.
