Mark Webber believes that Red Bull already has one eye focused on 2018 after their 2017 campaign hasn't started the way they were hoping. With the enforcement of the new aerodynamic regulations, Red Bull was expected to make a leap and challenge Mercedes for both titles.
However, it is Ferrari who has made the jump and Red Bull has been left in an area of their own - ahead of the mid-field but behind the leaders. Webber, a former Red Bull driver, thinks that the team will already be looking at next season.
"The regulations next year will be so similar," Webber said. "So whatever they learn this year will be beneficial in 2018 and they'll already have half an eye on that. They have been phenomenal at rescuing cars. But this year has been tricky for them, and with the calendar being so brutal and the action coming so hard and so fast, they're already up against it.
"There's no manual," added the Australian. "You can't phone a friend, you've just got to get your head down and work and Red Bull know that better than anyone. They've got a big few months ahead of them and then it's full transition to the 2018 car."

They need to. 2017 is a write off I'm afraid, and they should get the jump on everyone else by starting development now

The trouble is that their main problem is the Renault engine which they have much less control over.

Yes, but the chassis is letting them down too. They need to make improvements to it in the meantime

Yeah, Renault isnt entirely at fault there. Even now, their car is simply not up to scratch compared to the likes of Ferrari and Mercedes.
