Third DRS zone added to Bahrain circuit

The FIA has confirmed that the Bahrain International Circuit will run with a third DRS zone this weekend.

Previously, the circuit ran with two DRS zones throughout Grand Prix weekends - the start-finish straight and the straight between Turns 10 and 11.

Now, drivers will be able to use DRS on the short straight that connects Turn 3 and Turn 4 in the first sector, a decision that has been taken in an attempt to increase overtaking during the Grand Prix.

The detection point for the additional DRS zone will be in the braking zone of Turn 1.

Last year, F1 used three DRS zones at a number of circuits, however Bahrain stuck to running with just two.
