Hamilton hungry to 'achieve more' in 2019

Lewis Hamilton says that he is "ready to attack" the 2019 season as he aims to further embed himself in Formula 1's history books.

Hamilton has won the last two championships consecutively, seeing off the challenge from Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel. The Briton now rests on five world championship titles, tied with Juan Manuel Fangio.

2019 also marks the first year Hamilton can theoretically dethrone Michael Schumacher as the F1 driver with most Grand Prix victories - however, he would have to win 18 out the 21 calendar races to do so.

"2018 was a great year, but I feel like 2019 can be even better,” Hamilton said. "I want to achieve more, I want to continue to keep pushing. I feel energised and I'm ready to attack.”

Mercedes unveiled its new challenger for the upcoming season on Wednesday with a tweaked livery. Hamilton will be aiming to take the car to championship glory once more after winter break in which he disconnected himself from the sport.

"I had a great Christmas with my family and then I went snowmobiling, I went skiing, I went surfing with Kelly Slater, which was amazing," Hamilton said. "I completely switched off from racing for a while, trying to focus and re-centre myself and training hard for the new season.”

Let's hope he has a bit tougher competition this year. Bottas needs to step up and Ferrari needs to get out of their own way and stop making so many stupid mistakes.
