Bottas "sure" race wins will come

Valtteri Bottas is certain that race victories will come his way this season, claiming that he isn't stressed over not winning one so far in 2018. The Finn came agonisingly close to glory in Azerbaijan, only to be denied by a late race puncture.

Bottas is racing in his second season with Mercedes, having won three Grands Prix last year. Despite trailing teammate Lewis Hamilton by 42 points in the driver's championship, the average gap between them in qualifying so far this year is just 0.050s.

Previewing the upcoming race in Montreal, the former Williams racer admits that he is a fan of the Canadian track, having claimed a podium at every event since 2015: "I've definitely always liked it here. I love the track; I love the place and I've normally had pretty decent races here, so we want to do that again as a team and me personally.

"Of course, winning here would mean a lot – like winning every race for me," the 28-year-old continued. "Like last year, if the trend stays similar, that we are weak in Monaco and good here, hopefully we can have a good weekend.

"I'm just really looking ahead. It's still very early in the season, anything can happen, and I hope I have had my run of bad luck for the year and that things can turn around. There's no point really in stressing about it. I just want to keep going. I want to win races and I'm sure it will come."
