After a disappointing round in Austria, Lewis Hamilton is viewing next weekend's British Grand Prix as a clean slate for him to come back and attack Sebastian Vettel's title advantage. Hamilton knew coming into the race that he would be receiving a grid penalty due to a gearbox change.
Hamilton started the race on Sunday from P8 and was looking for a damage limitation Grand Prix. Staying out of trouble on lap 1, the Brit struggled with his tyres. Despite his complaints on the radio, he caught up to Daniel Ricciardo and attacked him for the podium, but couldn't find a way past.
"That's all I can do, so I will, and I'll just move on." When asked if he is in a different mindset and off form from the controversy in Baku, he replied: "I think that would just be an assumption, I feel good, it's obviously been difficult, so what else can I say? I have a couple of down days now, I'll look forward to seeing the home crowd, and I hope that we won't approach Silverstone with any problem. We'll hopefully start with a clean slate then."
