Despite coming to Barcelona with a heavily upgraded car, Red Bull are still fielding the RB13, and not a suggested RB14 or possible 'B' spec. The start of the European season usually brings the first of the major upgrades, which has shown clearly this weekend, with some cars (such as Mercedes) looking evidently different.
There were big expectations for Red Bull to deliver a mighty upgrade this weekend, however technical chief at Red Bull Adrian Newey has said that it is just a simple upgrade: "This is not a new car. Not even half-new. It's a normal upgrade," he told Auto Motor und Sport.

"I have been quite involved in other projects for the last two years and so there have been difficulties in communicating with my colleagues. We will improve that."
Despite the upgrades coming with the hope that they would be able to mix it up with front runners Mercedes and Ferrari, Red Bull team principal Christian Horner says that they are still behind but have closed up significantly: "I think we are closer to Ferrari and Mercedes than we've been at any point so far this season."
